June 06–The 2017 “Summer Kickoff” is June 10-11 at the St. Joseph County fairgrounds in Centreville. It is one way for those who participate and enjoy diesel, truck and tractor pulls to get into the swing of summer.
Food vendors and a beer garden are available each day. For those who want to make a weekend of it, camping is available for a fee of $25 per night.
Admission is free to the fairground and for all grandstand events, which start early Saturday. Opening the kickoff weekend is “Dyno Diesel Testing” by Legendary Diesel Performance of Three Rivers, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.
Diesel testing is done on a mobile tester, which gives a vehicle’s owner a measurement of horsepower and torque output, said Walker Eason, manager at Legendary Diesel Performance.
Some owners have put long hours and a lot of money into the vehicles, Eason said.
“This tells them on paper, what it can do,” he said.
