Nov. 03–Despite the price of oil dropping to six-month lows, drilling activity continues in the Permian, though the Basin is down two rigs this week for a total of 487, according to oil field services company Baker Hughes.
Midland gained a rig for a total of 61, while Reeves — the basin’s most active county — lost a rig and stands at 79.
Texas has 533 rigs this week, down four, and New Mexico is up one for a total of 102 rigs.
Other Permian counties with double-digit rig counts are: Lea, New Mexico, 57, up one; Eddy, New Mexico, 41, unchanged; Martin, 37, down four; Loving, 27, down one; Pecos, 23, up two; Howard, 22, down one; Ward, 22, down two; Upton, 19, unchanged; Culberson, 18, unchanged; Reagan, 16, up one; and Winkler, 15, down one.
The U.S. has 1,067 rigs, a loss of one.
