Leadership team for combined Marathon and Andeavor announced [San Antonio Express-News]

July 25–Only three Andeavor executives will remain at the top of the company that will emerge from the merger of the San Antonio-based refiner and Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum Corp.

Andeavor’s President and CEO Gregory Goff will become the executive vice chairman of the combined company, which will retain the Marathon Petroleum name. In his new role, Goff will be responsible for Marathon Petroleum’s “information technology, commercial and business development, strategy and corporate affairs functions.”

Fiona Laird, the chief human resources officer at Andeavor, will move into that role in the combined company. Dan Sorensen, the president of Andeavor Logistics, the refiner’s pipeline and storage arm, will remain in his role.

“Through the integration planning process being conducted with our Andeavor counterparts, we continue to evaluate the options for where these positions and functions will be located,” Marathon Petroleum CEO Gary Heminger said. “We are committed to continued transparency, and will provide additional information as it becomes available.”

Andeavor announced it was being bought by Marathon Petroleum in April for $23.3 billion. Including debt the deal is valued at $35.6 billion. The combined company will be the largest refiner in the U.S. The companies expect the deal to close in the second half of 2018.
