Sept. 01–The Permian Basin, after gaining a rig, stands at 486 this week, according to oil field services company Baker Hughes. Of that total, Midland County has 58 rigs, up three. Despite losing eight rigs from a week ago, Reeves still leads the Permian with 74.
Texas’ total for the week is 528, unchanged; New Mexico’s total is 102, down one. The U.S. total is 1,048, an increase of four rigs.
Other double-digit totals in the Permian are: Lea, 51, unchanged; Eddy, 46, down 1; Martin, 35, down one; Loving, 30, up one; Howard, 28, up five; Upton, 24, down one; Ward, 22, up four; Pecos, 21, up one; Reagan, 19, up three; Winkler, 18, down two; and Culberson, 15, unchanged.
