Aug. 18—The Permian Basin gained one rig this week for a total of 489, according to data collected by Baker Hughes.
Reeves County still had the most activity by far with 79 rigs. Midland County followed with 58. Lea and Eddy counties in New Mexico tallied 53 and 47, respectively.
There wasn’t much change across the board as Texas gained three rigs and increased its overall rig count to 525, New Mexico lost three to fall to 104 drilling rigs, and there was no change in the U.S. rig count (1,057 rigs, 869 for oil and 186 for gas).
