Feb. 01–A suspect is on the loose after bashing through the front of a Loomis gun store with a commercial truck.
Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call just before 5 a.m. saying someone had rammed a flat-bed truck into EWG Guns Inc., Lt. Andrew Scott said.
When deputies arrived, they found the store — perched on the corner across Horseshoe Bar Road from Loomis Veterans Memorial Hall — with a gaping hole where the door used to be.
The thief took a safe believed to contain several guns, Scott said.
Risk management personnel with the city of Loomis were surveying the likely-to-be-demolished building Thursday morning, meaning law enforcement agents hadn’t been allowed inside to see what else had been taken as of 9:30 a.m.
The truck was found empty about a mile away. It was registered to a Loomis business, Scott said, and was believed to have been stolen. No suspects have been identified.
