Aug. 21–ST. LOUIS — A 20-year-old driver was killed and his passenger badly injured when he ran a red light on Hall Street and crashed into a Mack truck making a left turn early Monday, police said.
The man killed was identified as Javonte Tompkins, of the 900 block of Cole Street.
Police said he was driving a 2017 Nissan Maxima that crashed into a Mack tractor trailer at 12:13 a.m. near where Hall intersects with Adelaide Avenue.
Tompkins was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, another 20-year-old man, was taken to a hospital. His condition was listed as critical but he was said to be stable.
The driver of the Mack truck was unhurt, police said.
