Sept. 19–PENN TOWNSHIP — The township has been awarded a $234,332 grant to build an all-inclusive, non-barrier playground at East Snyder Park.
The grant is provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation program which is funded by fees collected from natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale.
“I was pleased to support this project that ensures all children, regardless of the challenges they may face, have access to a playground that meets their needs,” said state Rep. Fred Keller, R-85, of Kreamer.
The park equipment is designed to be a physical, sensory and social recreation area. It will also include a quiet area for children with sensory or social developmental delays.
When completed, it will be the only all-inclusive park in the state.
